Match Report 10/02/07

Match today kicked off at 945am. With team blue starting brightly and getting on the scoresheet throught cheeky chan, making his first appearance since returning yesterday, latching onto a through pass from shawn kong. He calls it the 'Henry' finish when he swept the ball past the onrushing Edward and into the far corner of the net. Shortly after, good work on the left wing by guest player I-Mun got him some space and he cut the ball back for a clinical finish by Ming, his brother! 2-0 to team blue. Team red then managed to get their bearings when JiaHao worked some of his magic and dribbled down the line and back into the middle past 3 defenders and squeeze the ball past CK. 2-1 to team blue. I Mun the continued where he left off and set his brother up for a similiar goal after yet another surging run on the left. 3-1 to team blue. with team blue struggling slightly at the back, a high through ball thru the middle looped over Eddie and Shawn Kong slotted home to give team blue a 3 goal cushion. this brings his goal telly at the field to 7 in 4 games. Yet another moment of genius from JiaHao gave team red a breather when team red's defence stood off him and he sent a scorcher into the back of the net, leaving CK stranded. The eventful first half ended 4-2 to team blue.

With the morning sun really beating down on both teams, the heat took its toll as the players were getting more sapped with each passing minute. Both teams started to stablise and few chances were created. The only goal was scored by Chen. As he took the corner, a strong gust of wind blew and the trajectory of the ball was pushed goalward, catching the defense off guard. Jason who was on the goal line didnt have enough time to react and tried in vain to keep the ball from going out. The game ended 5-2 to team blue, but it was an entertaining game nonetheless. Both teams really slugged it out and im sure all the players benefitted from the run out.

Man of the match award goes to Jiahao. His runs and movement off the ball constantly gave team blues defense much to think about. 2 goals to his name against a mean defense is a proud achievement. Look forward to having him feature more frequently with SSC as he'll be adding alot of bite up front. Well done teams!!
