Match Report
Hey... the scoreline today read 2-0 in favour of the SSC. We started the game a little shaky but settled within the first 10 mins. James put us ahead after some nice passing and also a slight lapse in the opposition defense. He managed to wriggle free of his markers to just slot the ball home early in the first half. The opposing team was struggling to maintain a foothold in the game and never really got much action in front of our goal, and the first half ended 1-0. One course of worry was when defensive midfielder Chris limped off with an ankle injury toward the end of the half.
Second half started with a few of the subs going in, Sean Tan, Shawn Kong, Jason, and Daryl replacing Ming, James, Alfred and Simon respectively. With the opponents making subs as well they allowed the SSC to gain momentum and almost complete control of the match. Midway through the second half, Sean and Shawn combined to produce our second goal and to seal off the match. Latching on to a through pass from Jason, Sean sent the ball in first time to send Shawn through on goal. After a few feigns and fakes, Shawn managed to pull free and squeezed a shot in from an acute angle with the keeper beaten. Afterward, Chris was restored to the middle of the park where he dictated the tempo and defended the back 4 with much authority. SSC had a few more shots on goal, but didnt managed to convert. On the whole, it was a solid performance from the team, with the younger ones particularly impressive.
Man of the match goes to Chris, whose commanding and tireless display in the middle of the midfield stablised the squad and linked up the defense and attack seamlessly. Job well done!
